Each shop is required to have a minimum of one person certified in Food

Safety, per shop. This person CANNOT be the same for multiple locations.  

The certificates are good for 5 years.

Not getting your updated certificate can result in a default plus fine, make this a priority.

Each shop is required to have a minimum of one person certified in food safety for managers per shop. Each class is 6 hours with a test at the end or offered at self-pace with an online proctor. The certificate is valid for 5 years & is verified by both MPFS and the Health Inspector.

Please review following instructions to find ServSafe class near you.

1. Select link in text that reads ServSafe class schedules:  ServSafe classes
2. At the Find a Class screen enter your information in the boxes under search criteria.
   1. Under course you must select the training and exam key if this is your first-time taking test. If you already have a valid ServSafe certificate you could take the test only option.
   2. Enter city, state, and zip code into boxes. You may have to look in other cities or zip codes if class not offered near you.
   3. Make sure to adjust the proximity area. You may have to travel for class if nothing comes in under your criteria. If you don’t see list of classes, then change city and zip code until you find closest offering.
   4. Make sure to adjust date range. Classes are typically only offered once a month in some areas. Don’t wait till the last minute to schedule. Classes fill up quickly!
3. Hit search and choose the class that fits your schedule. Make sure to check language offered as sometimes classes are for specific demographic.
4. Lastly as stated don’t wait till the last moment. Remember you can only take the “Test Only” option if you have a current valid certificate. If this is your first time or you let your certificate lapse, then you must take the 8-hour training and test option.
